SILK INTRODUCTION (45 Minute) 
 
Description: 
Among the traditional fine arts and crafts, Vietnamese people maintain and restore silk weaving as a craft despite all the ups-and-downs. The materials are from the traditional handicraft villages in the country, mainly well-known destinations: Van Phuc village (Hanoi), Nha Xa village (Ha Nam province), Bao Loc village (Lam Dong province) and Duy Xuyen (Quang Nam province). Now, the most famous place to visit and learn is at Hoi An Silk Village.

Tour Itinerary

8:30 / 15:00: guide pick up at the hotel & transfer to Hoi An Silk Village.
 
- Welcome on arrival at Hoi An Silk Village & Enjoy a welcome drink
- Visit Vietnam traditional house (Southern Style) and listen to the story of craft Seri-culture in Quang Nam Province
- Next visit is the mulberry gardens and the silkworm-breeding house, and learn how to feed the silkworms.
- Visit Unravelling House: understand how to get silk thread from the cocoon to weave silk fabric.. 
- Finally, Visit Hoi An Silk Village exhibition: understand the difference between pure silk and fake silk fabric. The variety silk products here will provide for your shopping and tailoring demand.

10:00 / 17:00: finish silk tour & get ready for Lantern making class.
 
LANTERN CRAFTSMAN TOUR (one hour) 
 
Description: 
Night at Hoi An Ancient Town become more mysterious with various kinds of hand-made lantern. Lanterns are the result of exchanges among Vietnamese, Japanese, and Chinese cultures, which have been famous for their various and specific identities.
Hoi An lantern-making became a staple of family businesses, festivities, and celebrations, and eventually a symbol synonymous with Hoi An and since tourist visited Hoi An in 1990s, this class become one of the MUST-DO while you are travelling to this beautiful town and bring back home a great memory.

Program:
In order to bring home a souvenir of the lantern that you made yourself, you are invited to join an interesting one hour - class to make your own foldaway silk lantern with an instructor Choose between a range of different coloured type of silks.
This tour will give you the opportunity to not only learn how to make the lantern, but also to get closer with Hoi An history and culture.
You will have a brief introduction into the history, shape, and colour of the lantern, as well as the many stages of making them. 
 
Following 10 below steps:
 
Step 1: Attach 12 bamboo stakes together with wire thread 
Step 2: Shape the stakes into a inverted triangle or triangle formation 
Step 3: Insert the bamboo stakes into a hanger and secure the stakes with thread 
Step 4: Select your type of silk (with your favourite colours)
Step 5: Apply glue and let it dry 
Step 6: Set silk and stretch the silk to cover the stakes 
Step 7: Fully cover the sides with silk 
Step 8: Cover the top and bottom of the hanger with silk strips 
Step 9: Select a tassel for the lantern base 
Step 10: Finished!
 
Your lantern can also be folded and stowed in your luggage to be brought home And the master will make one more lantern for you like the special gifts from them at the end of the class.
 
11:30 / 18:30 finish the classes, enjoy Vietnamese set menu.
 
12:30 / 19:00: End the tour, transfer back to your hotel/meeting point in Hoi An centre.
